UFC president Dana White on Saturday tweeted that the UFC in Sweden has “sold out in hours” for the second consecutive year.
Last year’s UFC on Fuel TV 2: Gustafsson vs. Silva sold out in just three hours. The official attendance for the event 15,428, accounting for a gate receipts of $2.23 million.
To put that in perspective, the recent UFC 156: Aldo vs. Edgar pay-per-view event in Las Vegas drew 10,275 in attendance with a gate of $2.437 million.
White didn’t say specifically how long UFC on Fuel TV 9 took to sell out, nor did he reveal the total number of tickets or gate receipts, but back-to-back sellouts on the caliber of a pay-per-view event will surely keep the promotion on a return track to Sweden in the future.
UFC on Fuel TV once again features Alexander Gustafsson in the main event. He’ll put his title shot aspirations on the line against former Strikeforce and Dream light heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi, in what could be one of the toughest fights he’s ever had. It is definitely the most pivotal bout of his career.
Either way, Gustafsson vs. Mousasi is a home run, once again, for the UFC in Sweden.
