James TeHuna vs. Joey Beltran

Round 1: TeHuna scores first with a big right hand. Beltran fires back, but it’s TeHuna that is getting the better of him, landing the cleaner, harder punches. TeHuna is maintaining the center of the Octagon, moving Beltran to where he wants him, and consistently finding a home for his big right hand. Beltran lands a solid body kick, but TeHuna just keeps coming. He opens up with a flurry, rocking Beltran. He lands the straight right again, backing Beltran up and then unloads with another bunch of punches. TeHuna keeps firing and rocking Beltran, but Beltran somehow answers back, hurting TeHuna with a left to the jaw and then presses him up against the fence. TeHuna gets away from the fence and unleashes on Beltran dropping him with a left hook. TeHuna follows him down, unloading from full mount. Beltran somehow escapes from under TeHuna, stands back up, but eats a stunning amount of heavy punches before the horn sounds. MMAWeekly.com scores round one 10-8 for TeHuna.

Round 2: TeHuna opens by trying to get his jab going. Beltran comes fires back, but TeHuna again is the one landing cleaner shots and with more accuracy. And TeHuna is now mixing it up a bit, working the body and the head. Beltran tries get his jab established, but TeHuna takes him to the mat, ground and pounding from Beltran’s full guard. Beltran ties him up long enough to get the fight back to the feet. TeHuna immediatley opens up with a combination of punches that batter Beltran. The pace slows a bit, Beltran working on his jab again, but missing with several kicks. They exchange punches just before the horn, Beltran clipping TeHuna, who drops down for a takedown. Round 3: Beltran goes after TeHuna, but it is TeHuna that lands a couple right hands that stagger Beltran. Beltran works for a takedown, but TeHuna defends it, although he eats an elbow from Beltran as they come off the fence. Beltran lands a solid punch combination, but TeHuna then takes him to the mat, immediately beginning work from Beltran’s guard. They scramble back to their feet. Beltran moves in throwing punches, but TeHuna plants him on the mat again. Beltran immediately returns to his feet, but TeHuna tosses him down again. They get up and clinch on the fence, Beltran landing some knees to the body, then shooting and scoring a double-leg takedown, planting TeHuna on the mat. They get up, Beltran landing the elbow again on the break. They trade blows to the final horn, but neither man goes down. MMAWeekly.com scores round three 10-9 for Beltran, but the fight 29-27 for TeHuna.
