T.J. Dillashaw vs. Walel Watson
Round 1: Dillashaw immediately goes after the takedown. It takes him a little while, but he gets it. Watson gets up, but Dillashaw picks him up and slams him back to the mat. Watson tries to escape, but Dillashaw takes his back, sinking in both hooks. He locks on the rear naked choke, but Watson defends. Dillashaw maintains back mount, dropping down some elbows. Watson finally turns, tries to get up, but Dillashaw takes his back, once again locking on the rear naked choke. Watson defends again, but Dillashaw takes top mount, dropping elbows to Watson’s face. Watson again tries to turn out, but Dillashaw maintains a side mount, raining down punches and elbows. MMAWeekly.com scores round one 10-8 for Dillashaw.
Round 2: Dillishaw immediately goes with the Superman punch. They go at it right away, Dillashaw cracking Watson with a right hand. They hit the mat and Dillashaw quickly passes to side control. Watson regains half guard, but Dillashaw unloads with a series of left hands to the head, mixing in elbows as well. Watson tries to escape, but Dillashaw is all over him, ending the scramble in full mount on Watson’s back, blasting him with punches to the head. Watson turns back and forth, trying to escape, all the while eating punches as Dillashaw won’t be denied. He’s on Watson’s back, hooks in, again sinking the rear naked choke. Watson again escapes the hold, but Dillashaw is still in mount, punching, punching, punching. Dillashaw is in side mount again, dropping elbows and punches, pouring it on as the round dwindles down. Round 3: Watson comes straight at Dillashaw with jumping knees and kicks, but misses with all of it. Dillashaw snaps Watson’s head back, and once again shoots for the takedown. He gets up, but is nearly caught in a guillotine on the way down. Dillashaw moves to side control, but Watson scrambles out and back to his feet. Dillashaw eats a knee to the body, but also lands a punch combination to the body as he does so. Dillashaw moves in, landing an uppercut, but Watson jumps to a triangle choke on the way down, tries to transition to an armbar, but Dillashaw escapes. Watson then attacks the leg, working for a heel hook. Dillashaw slips his leg out and jumps right back into Watson’s guard, starting up his ground and pound attack. They scramble, Dillashaw taking Watson’s back, again sinking the rear naked choke. Watson again escapes the choke, Dillashaw still in mount, dropping down punches and elbows until the final horn sounds. MMAWeekly.com scores round three 10-9 and the fight 30-25 for Dillashaw.
