Diego Sanchez vs. Jake Ellenberger
Ellenberger and Sanchez just stepped up into the Octagon… here we go…
Round 1: Ellenberger swinging for the fences from the get-go. Ellenberger works a solid combination to the body, but Sanchez fires right back. Sancehz moves in, but Ellenberger lands a counter right. And again, Sanchez moves in, head down, swinging, but missing, as Ellenberger connects with a counter combination. Now Ellenberger is pressing on Sanchez, landing a couple punches, then follows with a knee to Sanchez’s chin. Sanchez moves in again, but this time lands a solid combination of punches himself, but eats another knee. On his home turf, the crowd is chanting loudly for Jake Ellenberger. Sanchez lands a solid right hand, but Ellenberger clinches and fires back with a knee and punch combination. Less than a minute left in the round and Ellenberger unleashes a combination that knocks Sanchez to the mat. He gets right back up, but Ellenberger ties him up, pushes him to the fence, and lands a knee and punch combination. MMAWeekly.com scores round one 10-9 for Ellenberger.

Round 2: Sanchez misses with a spinning back kick, but then they settle back into a rhythm, both fighters searching for an opening. Ellenberger goes high with a kick, but Sanchez blocks it. He goes low and lands a kick to the thigh of Sanchez. Sanchez goes high with a kick that is blocked and eats a counter jab for his efforts. Ellenberger is now starting to get his jab going a little more, moving in and out on Sanchez. Sanchez moves in, but Ellenberger lands a counter combination; Sanchez now looking a little frustrated. Sanchez finds a home for the right hook. Sanchez moves in with another combination, but Ellenberger times it well, shoots and lands the takedown, ending up in Sanchez’s full guard. Ellenberger starts mixing up punches and elbows, but Sanchez is being very active off his back, twisting and turning. Ellenberger lands some solid elbows, Sanchez, re-opening the cut on the bridge of his nose. MMAWeekly.com scores round two 10-9 for Ellenberger.
Round 3: Ellenberger is pressing the action, mixing up his punches and kicks on Sanchez, who seems content to hang back and look for a counter. It’s not working as Ellenberger cracks him with a punch, nearly sending him to the mat, then lands a head kick. Sanchez pursues him, but Ellenberger counters with shots to the body. The crowd is again chanting, “Jake, Jake, Jake, Jake!” Sanchez lands an overhand right, Ellenberger fires back, Sanchez keeps coming, but Ellenberger clinches and shucks him away. Sanchez moves in again, but Ellenberger lands a hard knee to the body. Sanchez finds his second wind, showing much more activity, moving in, landing some punches, backing Ellenberger up, but Ellenberger drops and scores the takedown. Sanchez somehow slips out and takes Ellenberger’s back, unleashing a fury of punches. Ellenberger is in trouble, eating some very heavy shots from Sanchez, who is in full back mount, hooks in. Ellenberger tries to move and slips out. They return to their feet and finish the fight in a mad fury. MMAWeekly.com scores round three 10-9 for Sanchez, but the fight 29-28 for Ellenberger.
