The UFC on Fuel card in February has added two new bouts with Aaron Simpson taking on Ronny Markes, while TUF winner Jonathan Brookins takes on submission specialist Rani Yahya.
UFC officials announced the bouts on Wednesday evening.
Aaron Simpson will look for his fourth win in a row when he heads to Nebraska for his next challenge. The former Arizona State wrestler and coach has steadily improved over his last three fights, and he’ll try to continue that evolution at UFC on Fuel TV 1.
Facing Simpson will be Brazilian Ronny Markes, making his second appearance in the UFC. After defeating former WEC champion Paulo Filho earlier in 2011, Markes debut in the UFC and defeated Karlos Vemola in August by unanimous decision.
Now he’ll face another tough test in former All-American wrestler Aaron Simpson.
Also added to the February card will be former Ultimate Fighter winner Jonathan Brookins, who hopes to bounce back from a loss in his last fight to Erik Koch in September. Injuries plagued Brookins after winning the reality show, but a loss in September certainly serves as motivation for his next bout.
Hoping to hand him his second straight loss however will be former WEC fighter Rani Yahya, who tries to stop his own skid after a defeat to Chad Mendes in August.
Prior to that fight, Yahya had defeated former WEC champion Mike Brown after returning to 145 pounds.
The two new bouts will add onto the UFC on Fuel TV 1 fight card slated for Feb. 15 in Omaha, Neb.
