Tristar Gym’s Yves “Tiger” Jabouin made his presence felt at UFC on Fuel TV 3 Tuesday night in Fairfax, Va., by scoring a lopsided decision over Jeff “Hellbound” Hougland.  His devastating kicking attack seemed to be all too much for Hougland.

Round one was all about Jabouin’s incredible speed.  Jabouin landed a spinning back kick to the mid section early in the fight.  Then he utilized a pushing sidekick that put Hougland against the cage.  Hougland went down from a body shot and Jabouin followed up with hard punches on the ground, looking like he was but a punch away from finishing the fight, but Hougland somehow hung on until the bell.

Jabouin opened round two with a hard roundhouse to the body.  Hougland tried for a takedown, but it was all too easy for the Canadian to stuff.  Jabouin appeared to be throwing fewer and fewer strikes, and Hougland tried to capitalize with a spinning backfist, but missed the mark.  Jabouin kept attacking, mixing his punches and kicks.

Jabouin immediately dropped Hougland to start the third round.  Hougland kept rolling around as Jabouin was throwing strikes, then Jabouin took Hougland’s back, but only momentary, as Hougland reversed position.  The bit of bright light for Hougland was only momentary, though, as Jabouin scrambled to his feet and put him on his back once again. Toward the end of the round, Jabouin landed a brutal knee to the body of Hougland and unleashed a series of hard elbows from Hougland’s guard until the final bell.

The judges scored the bout 30-27, 30-26, 30-37, all in favor of Yves Jabouin, who now moves to three straight victories since making the drop to bantamweight.  Moving forward, Jabouin wasn’t surprised that Hougland took such punishment and admires the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt’s courage.

“Once my back kick sinks in, not a lot of guys can stand it,” Jabouin said post-fight.  “Not a lot of men can stand it.  He took it like a man, my hats off to him.”

fight should have been stopped after the spinning back kick dropped him. the ref positioned himself in between jabouin and houglands body and prevented yves from finishing there. glad it didn’t end up burning yves.
