UFC president Dana White and CEO Lorenzo Fertitta have been working for years to get the right TV deal at the right time and that right deal apparently came together with Thursday’s announcement that the MMA juggernaut has partnered up in a seven-year broadcast agreement with the Fox family of networks, which includes Fox, Fox Sports, FX, and Fuel TV.

“This is the deal that I’ve always wanted, we got exactly what we wanted,” White told MMAWeekly.com‘s Erik Fontanez on Thursday, the UFC exec’s infamous Cheshire grin stretching from ear to ear.

“Take the UFC out of it and all the other stuff. Now these athletes that you know, I know, and everybody watching knows deserves to be up there on this platform up there with the NFL, Major League Baseball, and the list goes on and on, now the rest of the world knows.”

White went more in depth about the deal with Fox, as well as providing an update on the return of former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar in this exclusive one-on-one interview with MMAWeekly.com

Is that right baldy? Well why don’t you pay them accordingly. This prick and his cronies have made millions of the back of fighters. And has never paid them what they are worth. And then he comes out with bullshit like that. Who is he kidding???

      1) We rarely get the full scoop on what fighters are paid. Many have incentives and bonuses worked into their contracts that don’t have to be reported publicly.

      2) And this is more my personal opinion, are they not paid enough or are many of the other sports overpaying athletes and also collecting more of a profit than we should be paying?

    • Brass Monkey

I agree with Pishna. We don’t know the full picture and the fighters seem pretty happy to be in the UFC to me. Sure some of the entry level guys seem to be paid very low, but so are boxers. When the fighters have a following and put butts in the seats, they obviously get paid the bigger bucks. Prove your worth in the market place and you will get paid- Capitalism baby!!!!

How do you know who is making money? Fedor vs Hendo was great main event but they made 500k views on free TV. Fighters didn’t failed, fight was pretty good.

UFC would probably sell 500k PPVs with the very same main event. It’s not just about fighters… Promoting requires a lot of money too…

    To quote someone with brains:
“I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate (the) grave evils (of capitalism), namely through the establishment of a socialist economy, accompanied by an educational system which would be oriented toward social goals. In such an economy, the means of production are owned by society itself and are utilized in a planned fashion. A planned economy, which adjusts production to the needs of the community, would distribute the work to be done among all those able to work and would guarantee a livelihood to every man, woman, and child. The education of the individual, in addition to promoting his own innate abilities, would attempt to develop in him a sense of responsibility for his fellow-men in place of the glorification of power and success in our present society.”

Rich people create jobs, not poor people!
People who start a business with the goal to of creating a product that people want/need,and make a profit…Then they grow and get to hire more people, which puts money in their pockets, which makes it possibly for them to go out and buy diffrent things, helping the economy GROW!!!

The GOVERNMENT is not the solution,it’s the proplem!
When a Government starts taking from the people who work inorder to give it to those who choose not to work, why would anyone want to work? That makes it so people don’t want to work hard,or start a business, because it’s will just get taken from you and passed to the person who did not work as hard as you!

If you don’t already, you should move to a socialist country and see how well it’s working out.It looks a lot better on papper then it does in action. It’s a proven failure.

You are welcome to give all your money away if you feel like it.

This deal will create new jobs, from the top down. This deal will be great for everyone. The fighters will get a lot more money from the sponcers etc.Plus the fans get to watch more live fights!

You obviously don’t know enough about or have any clue what socialism is? You and most people over there if that’s where you are, you mistake socialism for communism very blindly. What you speak of is a classic example of this. I’m not going to try educate you, because I don’t believe i’m better than you. It’s just you and a lot people where you come from have been corrupted by very bad politics. I meant no disrespect to all people there when I wrote the word “dogs” in last post. It was aimed at that sick right wing side to your politics. I do admit it was of bad taste. You see the way religion is used to promote politics there does not happen everywhere else. It’s very distasteful to be honest. I am a very well travelled person and I simply don’t see this fall or failure of socialism you speak of? When in fact all I see around me for the past five years is the complete failure of capitalism. I take no pleasure in saying this but your country is in a mess, like so many other countries I see. In other countries there’s more of a choice for voters. And a least socialism is a choice for people everywhere else. A proper free choice, how it should be.. Do you think if all those banks where state or people controlled they would have caused the mess they have. Did Wall Street not confirm this over the last how many years. “The failure of capitalism” When the government or people have to buy the things back to keep them afloat. Does anybody there see this? You made reference in your post to what I would call a “welfare state”. Again that would be confusing and bringing in something I wasn’t talking about. So I don’t know what you mean with that! Look.. People in other countries think very very differently to the right wing/new religious movement over there. It only makes any sense there you see, nowhere else. I did respond to “monkey” after his silly little capitalist snipe, with my quote from a man with more brains than us. But listen! at the end of the day this is an MMA forum so i’m done trading opinions on bad politics. I would suggest doing a spell check before you post next time. I don’t mean to be rude but the education system for the working class people there must improve. And that’s to everyone’s gain. Back on to The UFC, Dana White, Zuffa and the monopoly they now have in MMA. Does anyone think that’s a good thing? Fighters now have no choice but to fight for them. That puts the fighters in a very bad negotiating position. And as I first said a lot don’t get the cut they deserve. Guy’s who sacrifice there lives i’d like to see looked after and given what there worth. I thought an opinion such as this would not offend a capitalist. Many have been through court cases. Couture, Henderson and Ortiz to name only three. Now there f**ked either way with nowhere else to go. “If you don’t like what we’re offering” then retire!??? That’s what were talking here. It’s just bad for some of the fighters without doubt. They put on the big promotions to maximise advertising. The already over advertising is becoming ridiculous. Bruce has about fifteen cards to read energy drinks slogans off. The make enough money with all that c**p to just be fair with fighters. They give there lives to there sport, sacrifice more than you’d even dream of. Pay them all what there worth. The honour they show in the cage should be shown back to them by the people they now have no choice but to fight for.

        It’s a very simple equation…

rich people do NOT create jobs. They generate wealth for themselves. They cut jobs to keep the margins looking good, or they create low income jobs, pat themselves on the back for a job well done, and rack in more profits from the labor of the underpaid. They use their wealth as leverage to pass laws in thier favor and to keep a common man from rising up and starting his own business.
You have been succesfully brainwashed. Hooray for the weak willed and under educated american populace.
Poor people create jobs in their quest for wealth. During hard economic times like these the number of private contractors and the self employed increase. Even the self employed tend to hire someone as a helper, or permanant co worker.
In addition, there are lot’s of rich people out there that aren’t business owners. Like a broker. What business is he openig to create jobs with? none.
        Actors?
        Athletes?
and don’t give me the crap about so and so opening up a resturant chain. That’s to hide wealth, or to show a deduction to avoid taxes. Very few rich are motivated to create jobs for the sole purpose to provide work for the common man so he can live above squaler.
The rich are motivated to get richer, jobs are only a by product of that quest, and are the first thing sacrificed to maintain their own level of disposable income.
anyone who believes different has been succesfully brainwashed by a propaganda machine.
Anyone who doesn’t believe it, but still supports it, is wealthy already, or benefiting financially from the wealthy for their support of such a propostorous lie.

I will only say this: Aside from MMA, ALL pro athletes are grossly overpaid! Disagree all you want, it is true!
