Robbie Lawler UFC on Fox 8 Post_9299The Washington State Department of Licensing on Tuesday released the UFC on Fox 8: Johnson vs. Moraga fighter salaries to MMAWeekly.com.

UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson defended his belt in the night’s main event, submitting John Moraga late in the fight.

UFC on Fox 8 took place Saturday, July 27, at the KeyArena in Seattle.

The total UFC on Fox 8 payroll of $850,000 was greater than the $700,081 in revenue that ticket sales generated.

The following figures are based on the fighter salary information that promoters are required by law to submit to the state athletic commissions, including the winners’ bonuses.

Although mixed martial arts fighters do not have collective bargaining or a union, the fighters’ salaries are still public record, just as with every other major sport in the United States. Any undisclosed bonuses that a promoter also pays its fighters, but does not disclose to the athletic commissions (specifically, pay-per-view bonuses, fight of the night bonuses, etc.), are not included in the figures below.

Wow, just two fights back and he is making 78k a fight and Jake has fought 11 times im since he first came into the UFC and only get 52k. I find it funny that Rory got paid less than Jake after the win bonus. Fighter rankings mean jack for pay.

    • RonnieV

Lawler has a better agent! I’m guessing he had a better contract with Strikeforce, which the UFC is honoring.

    • Dan Hanson

Lawler is still getting paid his strike force contract. Strike force paid the fighters huge money!

      • Maddawgmar

I get that just find it funny that the most profitable mma organization in the world doesn’t pay as much as some other. But then again that’s why the others failed

        • Werdoomb

that’s not why they failed dude.

Except for Affliction, none of the other orgs paid fighters like the UFC.

You can’t look at the salary of one or two former UFC stars or top non-UFC MMA fighters and make a sweeping judgment on the whole organization.

          • Maddawgmar

My “sweeping” decision is based on the fact a UFC released fighter was making more money than a UFC champ. Even if said champ was a lighter weight.

      • Hugh Shakeshaft

Lawler fought his ass off. I can’t believe Voekler took as much damage as he did. That dude’s got a chin!

    • Promoter

Lawler and Ellenberger have the same agent. A Jake win would have paid him $104,000.

  • bajafox

Anyone wanna bet Rory didn’t get a locker room bonus? lol

  • KingLettuce

Mighty Mouse only getting 58k? Absurd.

    • Hurricane8705

Is it really that absurd? It’s not like he’s a huge draw even though he’s a champion.

      • Jay Mcgarrity

unfortunately for DJ that is the truth. I was much more excited to see the ellenberger/rory, lawler, and even melvin fights. Sometimes the hype and draw of a fight doesn’t meet expectations(rory/jake obv) but that’s just the way it goes. It’s still early in his career though, he has plenty of time to build up a fan base as well as work towards some high end sponsorships.

    • bajafox

They pay per pound in the UFC, lol

      • Werdoomb

anything below LW is too small. Rather go see midget fights.

  • jon

how do guys on the undercard make more than a champion defending his belt on same card i understand that one of them is Robbie Lawler but i mean hes just cracking the top ten of the ww division and the other Melvin Gullard both big names but should they be maken more than the number one guy of a division the champion even though its a new division Johnson is exciting as hell and has established himself on the pound for pound list just sayen 58 grand come on

    • Werdoomb

Because no one cares about DJ or other midgets of the UFC except for TUF noobs that blindly nuthug well-rounded fighters, which the lighter weight classes are bound to have.

  • justin

Only 17 grand for a title fight. And dj didnt get much more. pathetic. That dude is amazing.

    • Hugh Shakeshaft

DJ turned me into a fan after that one.

  • TheCerealKiller

How many fights is Chiesa’s contract? Didn’t Dana say he won a 6 figure contract? Seven fights to make it $100k is not a good deal for the guy that won TUF.

    • Johnny

It’s probably only worth 100k of he wind all the fights on the contract (ie including win bonuses and pay rises from wins).

      • Johnny

        *if he wins

        Damn you autocorrect.

      • shakejunt

pretty sure the 100k is the guaranteed show money should he be kept around to complete the contract. doesn’t include win bonus.

        • Werdoomb

The whole point of TUF is for up and coming guys to build their careers and the UFC to make money off of them.

TUF allows the winners a quicker route to the UFC and a decent amount of media coverage.

TUF is not for veteran fighters. In this regard, Roy Nelson’s TUF participation is laughable. It’s like a dude with 3 years of international wrestling experience to go back to junior college wrestling and winning a national Div 3 title.

  • Phil Sparagna

Lawler must have a good agent

  • Truth

lol, how does Cruickshank get paid more than Chiesa, when Chiesa won the show? Cruickshank lost in his first fight in the house.

    • shakejunt

      … he doesn’t

    • Advance*

He only made more because he got his win bonus

  • AXE MURDERER

    Nice, good job Robbie

  • onehitwonder

12 bonuses ? why did Rory get a bonus?

    • Rich

He won. I’m wondering how Ellenberger still got paid more than Rory. Boring fight, yes. But Ellenberger pulled a big ‘ol nothingburger in that fight. I think he hit Rory 10 times?

  • kooolout

    might mouse is getting robbed.

  • timthebim

Robbie is banking off of that SF contract!

    • Werdoomb

He’s also doing a pretty good job too, at least for now. Two KO wins in a row are impressive, especially if one of those wins was against Kos.

  • OldMMAfan

For god sake guys, the main card is mainly paid by undisclosed bonuses from the PPV money, and that is loot , loot more than this basic payout that we are seeing here.

    • Wolf Ticket

Well, this was UFC of Fox, i.e. free TV, no PPV.

    • Werdoomb

For god sake you tard, go look at Eddie Alvarez’s UFC contract and read some of the analysis on the contract before embarrassing yourself.

Main card does not equal PPV cuts.

      Championship bouts equal PPV cuts.

Not so sure that PPV cuts apply to lower weightclasses no one cares about.

      U r a tard.

    • Promoter

This card was not on PPV…

  • Michelle D. Jackson

Why did Robbie Lawler make more money than the Flyweight Champion Demetrious Johnson?? Not cool!!

    • Fried_Chicken

      F’n racism, man!

  • seattlesean

The champ got less than Melvin Guillard? lol
    He needs a new manager

Ronda Rousey only got 90k for UFC 157 win (with a 45k win bonus) and D. Henderson got over 200,000 dollars for losing
