UFC on FOX 7 has added two more bouts. Joseph Benavidez and Darren Uyenoyama will square off in the flyweight division while bantamweights Francisco Rivera and Hugo Viana will meet on the April 20 event.
UFC officials announced the bouts on Wednesday.
Benavidez (17-3), the top ranked flyweight contender, is coming off a decision win over Ian McCall on Feb. 2 at UFC 156. He’s fought for UFC titles twice, coming up short to Dominick Cruz in the bantamweight division and dropping a closely contested fight with flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson.
Uyenoyama (8-3) has stung together a three-fight win streak. In his last outing, Uyenoyama defeated Phil Harris by submission at UFC on FX: Browne vs. Bigfoot in Oct. 2012. A win over Benavidez would catapult him into contender status.
Rivera (9-2-1) is on a four-fight win streak. He’s 2-0-1 in the UFC with wins over Alex Soto and Edwin Figueroa. He could be 3-0 but his UFC 149 knockout win over Ronald Delorme was overturned after he failed a drug test for a banned substance. The fight was later ruled a no contest.
Viana (7-0) is undefeated. He’s coming off a knockout win over Reuben Duran at The Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale in December.
UFC on FOX 7 takes place at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif.
