Mike Swick vs. Matt Brown
Round 1: Brown catches Swick early with an arcing right hand, sending Swick staggering a little bit, but it appeared he may have tripped as well. They clinch up and Brown gets Swick to the mat, landing in his half guard. Brown locks up a choke, but Swick remains patient and eventually slips his head out. Swick goes to work from inside Brown’s full guard, trying to pass, but Brown is using wrist control and an active guard to lock on a triangle choke, and it looks deep. Both fighters are on their side, however, not giving Brown the leverage he needs to tighten the choke. Swick escapes the choke and transitions into a choke attempt of his own, but it’s not tight and Brown slips out and they return to their feet to close out the round. MMAWeekly.com scores round one 10-9 for Brown.
Round 2: Brown comes out aggressively for round two, driving home some punches and landing a couple arcing elbows. Swick ties him up and presses him to the fence to stop the attack. They separate briefly and Swick gets the Thai clinch, landing some solid knees to the midsection and peppers Brown’s thighs with knee strikes. Brown lands a solid elbow to the head as they separate, but Swick again presses him to the fence. They separate and move around a bit before Swick starts coming forward swinging and Brown catches him with a left hook-right cross combination, sending Swick crashing to the canvas… and out go the lights!
