Dennis Siver vs. Nam Phan
Round 1: Siver immediately starts kicking, mixing it up high, low and to the body. Siver is obviously much, much bigger and stronger than Phan, who is having a very difficult time finding his range as Siver rocks him with a mixture of kicks and punches, and we’re only a minute and half into the fight. And Siver is not slowing down, doing a really good job mixing up his kicks and punches, using his leg kicks almost like a jab, chopping away at Phan’s legs. Phan keeps coming forward, trying to find an opening, but for every one shot he lands, Siver appears to land another 4-5 shots of his own. Siver lands a front kick to the face, takes Phan to the mat, but immediately lets him back to his feet to continue his striking assault. He’s picking Phan apart from every angle, high and low, both punches and kicks, landing nearly at will, but being patient. MMAWeekly.com scores round one 10-9 for Siver.
Round 2: Phan comes out super aggressive, landing a few shots, but Siver is relentless, just picking away at Phan with his boxing and his kicking. They keep it up to the midpoint of the round before Siver takes Phan to the mat and starts grounding and pounding from Phan’s half guard, but Siver is barely in the half guard, almost having the same position as he would in side control, dropping down punches and elbows. Phan is trying to hug tight, but Siver is doing a good job creating enough space to jackhammer with his punches, and eventually breaks out to full side control. Siver moves to full mount briefly. Phan regains half guard, but Siver is dropping some heavy damage from the top. MMAWeekly.com scores round two 10-8 for Siver.
Round 3: Siver goes right back to picking away at Phan, but quickly shifts gears and takes him down less than a minute into the round. Siver once again starts his ground attack from Phan’s half guard, making Phan carry his body weight, and pounding away. Siver nearly passes to mount. Phan quickly regains half guard, but Siver is postured up and dropping some heavy, heavy elbows, alternating with big left hand punches square to the face. Phan has a ton of heart, but he is eating a tremendous amount of punishment from the much bigger Russian-born, German resident. Siver just remains consistent, brutalizing Phan to the final horn. MMAWeekly.com scores round three 10-8 and the fight 30-25 for Siver.
