UFC on Fox 4 LogoThe first UFC on Fox event had just one bout, while UFC on Fox 2 featured three, and then UFC on Fox 3 upped the ante to four fights on Fox.

UFC on Fox 4: Shogun vs. Vera is sticking with the UFC on Fox 3 formula, featuring four fights on “Big Fox” on Aug. 4 in Los Angeles.

The four fights will, of course, include the main event showdown between Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Brandon Vera, as well as Lyoto Machida vs. Ryan Bader, Travis Browne vs. Ben Rothwell, and Joe Lauzon vs. Jamie Varner.

UFC on Fox 4 also includes a six-bout undercard that will air on Fuel TV.

This is a nice lineup. Dont think Vera has a prayer though.

This is a great card for free! Thanks zuffa!

Why should I be thankful to Zuffa. Every other sport I watch on TV for “free”. Why not every event be ‘free’? Can’t the fighters make any money on free TV? The NFL / MLB / NBA is all free and the players make good money? Why am I thanking Zuffa for doing what every other major sport does? Can anyone tell me what it different?

        Boxing?

Boxing is a major sport? That’s fringe.

So combat sports have conditioned us to think we have to pay extra to see their product? That they can’t have a TV deal and make it profitable. I guess so. Seems weird but I guess so.

None of these fight cards are worth $50. If everyone stopped buying them for 10 cards in row – all of this stuff would be on ‘free’ tv. The public is overpaying and the UFC will take the money. Not that a majority of the fighters will see that money. I’d be all for that.

The Seinfeld actors made money. That was on free tv. The NFL makes money on free tv. MLB does too. Why not? What’s different with combat sports? Tell me.

That’s the other thing, this response being from the UK, is that PPV is a predominantly a US thing. Really the only people paying PPV is North America. Brazil saw 148 free and they pulled huge numbers.

I realize that air times, etc. has something to do with PPV but they are charging who is willing to pay and the US historically has been willing to pay so they are charging. If we stopped paying, they would stop charging – gaurenteed. They can make money without PPV. Would it be as much – absolutely not.

But Dana White telling me that I should shut my mouth because it’s free. If you want me to watch, it’s going to have to be free. I’m not paying extra to watch a sport because every other sport figured out a way to do it and you should too.

Dont see how this card is great for a big Fox show. Dont expect any better ratings than last time.
