Chael Sonnen vs. Michael Bisping

Round 1: They come out slugging, but Sonnen quickly puts Bisping down and jackhammers him in the face. He gets out and up, but Sonnen presses Bisping up against the cage. Bisping spins out and drives home a knee to the body, but Sonnen puts on a body lock and tosses the Brit to the mat, pressing him to the cage. Sonnen lands a couple hard shots as Bisping gets back to his feet once again, but Sonnen quickly smothers him against the fence. They separate, both fighters landing punches and knees, but Sonnen once again clinches and press Bisping into the cage. Bisping turns it, but Sonnen is landing knees to the body. They separate and Bisping goes high with a spinning kick but misses. Sonnen clinches once again, but this time Bisping pushes him to the fence where they start trading knees again. Sonnen comes in firing, but it’s Bisping that lands the harder shots, snapping Sonnen’s head back. They clinch up and Bisping again presses Sonnen to the cage. Round 2: Sonnen presses in, but eats a couple Bisping punches before landing one of his own. Sonnen again presses Bisping to the fence, but Bisping quickly turns it. Bisping maintains control until referee John McCarthy separates them. Sonnen lands a couple good shots before Bisping lands a knee to the body. Sonnen though uses the opportunity to take Bisping to the mat, this time landing some ground and pound, working from Bisping’s guard. Bisping is out and up. They start trading punches again, Bisping edging ahead and driving a knee to the body then pressing Sonnen into the fence. Bisping does some good work with his dirty boxing, drops for a single-leg takedown, but can’t finish it. He keeps Sonnen pressed against the fence and mixes it up with punches, elbows and knees. Sonnen is firing back, but Bisping is landing the cleaner shots. They separate and Bisping lands a knee to the body, misses with a spinning kick to the head, but lands a couple solid punches as they finish in a flurry. Round 3: Sonnen immediately scores a double-leg takedown, landing in Bisping’s guard. Sonnen lands some ground and pound, but nothing that appears to have done a lot of visible damage. Bisping tries to get out, but Sonnen takes his back and puts his hooks in. Sonnen transitions to full mount, pumping shots to Bisping’s ribs. Sonnen lifts up and rams his shoulder down on Bisping’s face, but Bisping is able to get his half guard. Sonnen is still in a half-mount position, peppering Bisping with shots to the body and head, but again, not landing decisive, finishing blows. Bisping, with less than a minute left, scoots to the fence, but had a difficult time regaining his feet. Sonnen is still on him, clinching as they stand, but Bisping drops down and takes Sonnen to the mat just before the final bell sounds.     I’m with the judges on this one. Rd 1 bisping was taken down twice and stumbled with a big punch. His stand up was crisp but he did no real damage and just held sonnen against the cage. Even in rd 2 he just held sonnen on the cage while sonnen punched him (if you can call it punching).
