Robbie Lawler and Matt Brown had a shot at UFC welterweight champion Johny Hendricks hanging in the balance of their bout and it showed. As expected, Lawler and Brown gave everything they had in the Octagon in trying to secure that title shot.
The two went toe-to-toe, fist-to-face for the duration of their five-round main event.
Lawler took the victory with a unanimous decision, but each fighter was awarded a $50,000 bonus for earning the Fight of the Night award.
The two Performance of the Night bonuses weren’t all that surprising either.
Anthony Johnson has taken the cage by storm ever since he moved up to the 205-pound light heavyweight division. The “Rumble” continued on Saturday night as he took out highly regarded veteran Antonio Rogerio Nogueira just 44 seconds into their fight, securing one of the two awards.
The other Performance of the Night went to Dennis Bermudez, who solidified his position as a rising star in the featherweight division by submitting Clay Guida in the second round of their fight.
