The historic first ever UFC on Fox event is now just 24-hours away and the main event is official with Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos both making weight.
dos Santos came in at 239lbs and kept his words short for the California crowd in attendance.
“Just one thing. Get ready for a war,” said dos Santos.
UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez was greeted by a loud chorus of cheers and made the mark at 249lbs, in what will be the first defense of his title.
With a strong fan base in support of him at the weigh-ins, Velasquez promised to keep the belt come Saturday night.
“Especially to be fighting here in front of a lot of ‘La Raza’, we’ll come out with the belt, definitely,” Velasquez stated.
The co-main event between Ben Henderson and Clay Guida was announced by UFC commentator Joe Rogan as a No. 1 contender’s bout to determine the next fighter to face champion Frankie Edgar for the UFC lightweight belt.
Both competitors made weight, and Guida enjoyed a loud ovation from the audience as they chanted his name before he faced off with the former WEC champion.
