UFC “Interested” in Making Carlos Condit vs. Rory MacDonald 2

December 9, 2012

It was clear after Rory MacDonald defeated B.J. Penn at UFC on Fox 5 he only had one fight on his mind.

The young Canadian immediately grabbed the microphone from UFC commentator Joe Rogan’s hand, and asked for a rematch against Carlos Condit – the only fighter to hand him a loss in his career.

MacDonald met Condit in 2010, but after winning the first two rounds with takedowns and ground control, he found out just how much heart and determination the former UFC and WEC champion had inside of him.

Condit battled back in the third round and battered MacDonald with strikes, eventually getting a stoppage with just seconds left to go in the fight.

Now MacDonald wants his chance at a little bit of revenge after he believes Condit embarrassed him in the Octagon the last time out.

“I was just laying there getting beaten on, my face looked like I was the guy from “The Goonies” after. I was embarrassed about my performance and how I held myself,” MacDonald said at the UFC on Fox 5 post fight press conference.

“It did a lot of damage and I don’t think I’ve been the same person since, so I want to get that back.”

His call out may have worked because UFC President Dana White said he likes when fighters call out other fighters, and he could definitely see Condit vs. MacDonald 2 on the horizon.

“I am interested in that, and I like when guys call other guys out. If that’s the fight he wants then we’ll try to make it,” said White when speaking to Fuel TV.

Condit most recently fought at UFC 154 when he lost a unanimous decision to UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre.
