UFC Headed to the U.K. in September

Posted on by MMAWeekly.com Staff

UFC UKMixed martial arts fans in the U.K. can stop blowing up UFC president Dana White’s Twitter account, the UFC is on a return course to the U.K. sometime in September.

The details have yet to be fleshed out, but the UFC’s manager of international development, Marshall Zelaznik, confirmed the return in an interview with Whoa! TV, while in Sweden for UFC on Fuel TV 2.

“Our expectation is that in September, we will be in the U.K. It won’t be Liverpool,” said Zelaznik, shooting down the rumors about Liverpool before announcing the U.K. return. “We haven’t announced the venue or the location or the date, but we will be back. The fans can rest assured, we will be coming back. Everyone is excited to be back and we’re hoping to bring a big card.”

The promotion was last in the U.K. in November of last year for UFC 138, when Mark Munoz scored a victory over Chris Leben in the main event.

Please give us a title fight, or at least a number one contender match. Don’t just load it with British fighters plus Kongo as per usual.

Exactly, when I hear, “UFC HEADED TO UK,” I hear, “UFC SET TO GIVE THE FANS MEDIOCRE CARD THAT WOULD NEVER SELL IN THE U.S. HEADLINED BY BISPING.”

We didn’t even get bisping last time, or hardy, or Pearson. We just get some token European fighters and the rest are just no-name British fighters. I wish the UFC would understand that mma isn’t a partisan sport where you support only your own countrymen, but instead fans support fighters not their place of birth. I like a few Brit fighters, I dislike a few. Ditto USA, Brazilian, Canadian or whatever.
