Well on Tuesday the UFC made good on that promise handing out several bonuses to fighters who came through on Twitter.
Each prize comes along with a $5,000 bonus.
The most followers by division went as a clean sweep to Brazilian fighters with UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva, Antonio Rodrigo ‘Minotauro’ Nogueira, Demian Maia and Strikeforce champ Cris ‘Cyborg’ Santos coming away with the bonuses.
The Brazilians also crushed the competition in the biggest percentage growth in followers in the first quarter with Anderson Silva, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Demian Maia and Paulo Thiago picking up the bonuses in that category.
The most creative tweets category, which may end up being judged as the most fun prize of them all, went to Forrest Griffin, Joe Lauzon, Ben Henderson and Joseph Benavidez.
All of the fighters named in the Twitter bonuses will receive a $5,000 bonus, with a couple of fighters taking home $10,000 because of wins in two categories.
The UFC will continue to hold their Twitter incentives in future quarters as well. The most recent timeline ended on Sept 1.
