After months on the sidelines due to injury, Matt Brown looks to take another step towards a title shot when he faces Erick Silva in the UFC Fight Night 40 main event on Saturday night in Cincinnati, Ohio. Silva, of course, is looking to derail Brown and propel his own name into the championship conversation.
Brown, Silva, and the other UFC Fight Night 40 competitors first had to step on the scale at the U.S. Bank Arena on Friday.
There are a couple other fights on Saturday’s card that could have some effect on the title talk in their respective divisions. Costa Philippou and Lorenz Larkin square off in a pivotal middleweight bout, while lightweights Erik Koch and Daron Cruickshank will also be trying to rise above the fray.
Preliminary card fighter Anthony Lapsley missed the 171-pound limit for his scheduled welterweight match-up with Albert Tumenov. He weighed in at 174 and was given two hours to cut the remaining three pounds or face losing a percentage of his fight purse.
