The UFC Fight Night 35 main card delivered the goods on Wednesday night at The Gwinnett Center in Duluth, Ga., as all of the post-fight award winners came from the Fox Sports 1-televised top end.
Each of the winners scored a $50,000 bonus for his efforts.
Former Strikeforce middleweight champion Luke Rockhold redeemed himself in the night’s main event, scoring an impressive liver-kick knockout over tough middleweight contender Costas Philippou.
It took only until midway through the opening round for Rockhold to land successive body kicks that crumpled Philippou to the mat and secure the Knockout of the Night bonus.
Main card opening Cole Miller was perhaps even more impressive, securing a rear naked choke 1:54 seconds into his fight for the win over Sam Sicilia. That finish also scored the Submission of the Night award.
Yoel Romero and Derek Brunson won the Fight of the Night award in a back-and-forth battle. Brunson scored the takedown on Romero, each man knocked the other down, and Romero, who was in a spot of trouble, came from behind late in the fight to finish off Brunson by way of TKO stoppage with less than two minutes left in the fight.
UFC officials awarded $200,000 in post-fight award bonuses.
