The Ultimate Fighting Championship handed out $50,000 bonuses for performances at UFC Fight Night 30 in Manchester, England, on Saturday. Lyoto Machida, Luke Barnatt, Andrew Craig and Nicholas Musoke banked the bonus money.
Knockout of the Night honors went to former UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida for his high kick knockout of Mark Munoz in the evening’s main event.
Machida stalked his former training partner and landed powerful kicks to the body. At the 3:10 mark in the opening round, Machida uncorked a head kick that sent Munoz crashing to the canvas. It was Machida’s middleweight debut.
Submission of the Night was awarded to UFC newcomer Nicholas Musoke for his first round submission of UFC veteran Alessio Sakara. The two wasted no time mixing it up as soon as the bell rang with each landing shots that staggered the other. Musoke took Sakara down, but Sakara gained top position. Musoke applied an arm bar that forced Sakara to tap out.
The preliminary card featured the Fight of the Night. The Ultimate Fighter 17 participant Luke Barnatt took damage early against Andrew Craig, but returned the favor late in the round. Barnatt landed a left hand that knocked Craid down, but instead of seizing the opportunity to finish, Barnatt prematurely celebrated. Craig survived and made it through the round.
Craig looked to have recovered at the start of the second frame. In an exchange, Barnatt landed an uppercut on the inside that knocked Craig down. Barnatt followed him to the canvas, took his back, and secured a rear naked choke that forced Craig to surrender.
The UFC awared a total of $200,000 in bonuses following UFC Fight Night 30: Machida vs. Munoz.
