Round 1: Lots of weight being thrown in the Octagon for this one. A series of scrambles take up the first minute of action. It looks as though Russow’s left ear is bloody. The two clinch with just under two minutes to go in the first and a knee almost finds its mark on Madsen. Lackluster opening round with no real advantages from either fighter. At 30-seconds left, the crowd is getting bored and the boo birds start to come out. The round ends with no real action to speak of. Tough round to score.
Round 2: Madsen tries to counter as Russow comes in, but doesn’t follow through. Russow presses his opponent against the cage, landing a short uppercut in the process. Russow gets Madsen’s back and brings his opponent down. No action going down as Madsen is kneeling against the cage and Russow is holding on. The ref has seen enough and has the two stand. Madsen throws a knee that awakens the crowd. The two clinch again and the ref separates them to the delight of the crowd. The round ends with Russow controlling Madsen’s back. 10-9 Russow. After examining Madsen’s eye – which was heavily swollen – the Octagon-side physician said he was unable to continue and the referee put a stop to the fight.
