The Ultimate Fighting Championship on Tuesday announced that its return event to Colorado, UFC Fight Night 13, has officially sold out. The UFC and Spike TV also announced that the April 2 telecast will expand to three hours.
“Because of the stacked card and lineup of prominent fighters, I knew that bringing the UFC back to the state of Colorado would be big,” said UFC president Dana White.
The event sold out in less than 30 days, according to the UFC. Though no exact numbers were released, the promotion did state that there will be more than 6,700 fans in attendance at the Broomfield Event Center, where the fights are being held.
The UFC got its start more than 15 years ago in Colorado, when Royce Gracie won three fights in one night to be crowned the promotion’s first tournament champion.
The telecast on Spike TV marks the first UFC Fight Night event to receive a three-hour time slot. The doors to the event will open at 2:00 p.m. MST with the first bout starting at 2:45 p.m. MST. UFC Fight Night 13 will begin live on Spike TV at 7:00 p.m. EST.
Though six fights are listed as televised, the bout between Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard has been designated the swing bout and will be televised only if time permits.
