Michael-Chiesa-TUF-Live-478x270Ever since announcing Lyoto Machida vs. Tim Kennedy for the UFC Fight for the Troops 3 fight card, the promotion has been busy unleashing additional fights for the Nov. 6 event in Fort Campbell, Ky.

UFC officials on Friday night added Colton Smith vs. Michael Chiesa and Dennis Bermudez vs. Nik Lentz.

Smith vs. Chiesa is a battle of former The Ultimate Fighter winners.

Smith (3-2), an active a U.S. Army Ranger, won the sixteenth season of TUF, defeating Mike Ricci in the final. He followed that up with a loss to TUF: The Smashes winner Robert Whittaker at UFC 160 in May.

Chiesa (9-1) won TUF 15, the only live season of the series, by defeating Al Iaquinta. He followed that with a victory over Anton Kuivanen at UFC 157, but, like Smith, enters this fight coming off of a loss. Jorge Masvidal submitted Chiesa at UFC on Fox 8 in July.

The bout between Bermudez and Lentz is a battle of unbeaten featherweights.

Both men found a modicum of success in the UFC’s lightweight division, but ran into rough patches and made the decision to drop down to 145 pounds. Neither has lost since.

Bermudez (11-3) is on a four-fight winning streak, entering this fight off of a split decision victory over Max Holloway at UFC 160.

Lentz (24-5-2, 1 NC) has won three consecutive bouts, most recently defeating highly touted Brazilian Hacran Dias on his home turf at UFC on FX 8 in Brazil.

UFC Fight for the Troops 3 marks the promotion’s return to a military base for the first time since it landed at Fort Hood in Texas on Jan. 22, 2011.

This article needs to do 2 things: 1) Get your facts straight because Dennis Bermudez has never fought at 155 in the UFC. 2) Get more information because Colton Smith won TUF at 170 & Michael Chiesa won it at 155, so at what weight are they gonna fight at, Light or Welter?

Agreed about the weight discrepancy. What weight is this fight at?
As a side note, Bermudez absolutely lost to Holloway. Terrible MMA judging really detracts from the sport’s credibility.

We all pull for Colton but he is not UFC material.

Actually Dennis Bermudez is 12-3-0, Yes he never fought at 155 while in UFC, but was a lightweight before dropping to Featherweight for The Ultimate Fighter 14 where he did lose a one round Fight of the Night battle to Diego Brandao. So he is actually 4-1-0 in his UFC career and he absolutely won that very close fight with Max Holloway…
