UFC 140 in Toronto just wrapped up, but the promotion is already mapping out a return to the Great White North. It won’t be Toronto, and Vancouver appears to be on ice for the time being, but UFC 145 is currently in the works for March 24 at the Bell Centre in Montreal. MMAWeekly.com sources confirmed the event.
The first rumored UFC 145 bout pits Che Mills against Rory MacDonald in a welterweight showdown. MMAWeekly.com sources also confirmed the fight, which was first reported by MMAFighting.com.
Mills (14-4) failed in his bid to get into The Ultimate Fighter house for the Team U.S.A. vs. Team U.K. season. He is currently riding a five-fight winning streak, including his Octagon debut at UFC 138, where he won the Knockout of the Night for his stoppage of Chris Cope.
He faces an extremely difficult task in MacDonald (12-1). The Canadian fighter has slipped only once in his career, losing in the closing seconds of the fight to title contender Carlos Condit at UFC 115 after winning the first couple rounds of the fight.
MacDonald bounced back by defeating Nate Diaz and Mike Pyle, putting himself right back in the mix among fighters on the fringe of a title shot.
The UFC skipped Montreal in 2011, the first time it has done so since making its Canadian debut at the Bell Centre in 2008.
