On Thursday, the UFC confirmed several rumored fights for cards coming up over the next few months including additions to the Montreal and Abu Dhabi shows in April and May.
The newest fight that had previously not been announced is a heavyweight contest added to UFC 113 in Montreal pitting hard hitter Joey Beltran (11-3) against first time Octagon fighter Chad Corvin (6-0).
Beltran made his UFC debut in February when he blasted through the Rolles Gracie as a late replacement when original opponent Mostapha Al-Turk was forced out of the fight at the last minute. Chad Corvin comes to the UFC with a perfect record, and a reputation as one of the biggest prospects in the heavyweight division.
Also confirmed by the UFC is a welterweight bout between former “Ultimate Fighter” finalist DeMarques Johnson and former IFL fighter Brad Blackburn. A stunning submission earned Johnson a bonus in his last fight at UFC 107, and he hopes to keep that momentum rolling in Abu Dhabi.
Brad Blackburn was 3-0 in the UFC heading into his last fight, but he came up short against “Ultimate Fighter” winner Amir Sadollah, and he hopes to bounce back strong when facing Johnson in April.
The last fight that was previously announced earlier this week is a lightweight contest slated for the UFC on Versus card next weekend with Duane “Bang” Ludwig taking on newcomer Darren Elkins.
