COLUMBUS, Ohio – In what is being billed as a unification bout, Ultimate Fighting Championship champion Anderson Silva and Pride champion Dan Henderson weighed in on Friday before a large crowd at the Nationwide Arena. The two will meet there in the Octagon on Saturday night… and now it’s official.

Both of the main event fighters made weight with no problem. Anderson Silva smiled as he returned to Ohio for the second time to defend his title and had an intense staredown with opponent Dan Henderson before shaking hands and leaving the stage.

Evan Tanner received a very nice welcome back cheer from the fans in Columbus for his fight with Yushin Okami, while Chris Leben got a mixed reaction when he debuted his new black hair.

The undercard fighters scored loud ovations from the Ohio crowd including home state favorites Dustin Hazelett and Jorge Gurgel. Hazelett, who apparently has been dealing with mistaken identity, also got a great reaction from the crowd for wearing a shirt proclaiming that he is not Jon Fitch and please stop asking.

Diego Sanchez was extremely intense stepping back on the scales since his loss to Fitch some months ago, while the crowd reacted the loudest for Andrei Arlovski as far as the undercard fighters.
