The Ultimate Fighting Championship released the UFC 180: Werdum vs. Hunt performance-based fighter bonuses following Saturday’s event in Mexico City.

The Fight of the Night went to Henry Briones and Guido Cannetti. The two bantamweights competed on the Fight Pass portion of the preliminary card, and put on a show exciting enough to warrant earning higher spots on future fight cards for each of them.

With a stoppage of Mark Hunt and earning the UFC interim heavyweight title, Fabricio Werdum earned one of the Performance of the Night bonuses. As the evening’s headliner, Werdum and Hunt garnered the most attention ahead of the pay-per-view. After the bout, however, is when it really paid off for Werdum who is now set to face heavyweight champ Cain Velasquez when he returns from injury.

The other Performance of the Night award went to Kelvin Gastelum. The Season 17 winner of The Ultimate Fighter showed that he’s the real deal with a win over Jake Ellenberger, picking up the submission by rear-naked choke in the first round.

Werdum was too smart & well rounded to lose to Hunt.

Cardio was the bigger issue. Hunt needed an oxygen tank in there. He was winning the fight until that knee landed.

you’re not wrong, but idk if that would’ve changed the result (of werdum winning, not the tko). i hope they give mark another chance after a win or two and not because of internet love, but because he stepped up on late notice.
