Donald Cerrone and Melvin Guillard at UFC 150Upcoming fight cards recently underwent some major reshuffling when light heavyweight champion Jon Jones had to withdraw from his UFC 178 main event bout with Daniel Cormier.

As a result, that bout was rescheduled for UFC 182 on Jan. 3, 2015, and the UFC 177 championship co-main event between Demetrious Johnson and Chris Cariaso was transferred to take the place of Jones vs. Cormier on Sept. 27.

Trying to shore up the UFC 178 fight card a bit more, UFC officials on Thursday pulled Bobby Green from his scheduled bout with Jorge Masvidal on the card and instead matched him up with Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone.

Green and Cerrone will now meet in the UFC 178 co-main event in support of Johnson vs. Cariaso.

Cerrone is currently on a four-fight winning streak, while Green has won eight straight, including all four of his UFC bouts. The winner will put himself near the top of the list when lightweight title shot talks take place.

Not wanting to leave Masvidal twisting in the wind, UFC matchmakers kept him on the card by pairing him up with James Krause.

Cerrone has trouble with aggresive fighters, he dominates fighters that allow him to set the pace and to get off first.
Green will come right at him.

Have u ever seen Green fight? He’s anything but an aggressive fighter. All he does is counter and try to use fancy movements. Cowboy is gonna walk right thru him.

I thought I’d seen Green fight, maybe I have him confused with another fighter.
If he is passive Cerrone will walk right through him.

Normally green will play a counter striker roll, has good head movement like Anderson, but with that cerrone will find the body. He can be aggressive too tho. Surely all these fights will take its toll on cerrone soon- but much respect to him for always stepping up

I found the Green Thompson fight and re-watched it. Green was the aggressor and controlled the center of the ring through-out. Thompson is/was a highly ranked fighter. He is a wrestler that prefers to strike. He and Thompson each scored 1 TD but both also escaped immediately. Cerrone is no wrestler but he is a good Jiu Jitsu guy so I doubt Green will care to take him down.
Green often dropped his hands and he ran his mouth constantly during the fight.
He wasn’t a counter puncher in that fight.

Well, this certainly ads more interest to already a great card.
Massive opportunity for Green, Cerrone is what 4-0, 5-0.
I think this is his 4th fight this year, that is so impressive.
I wish UFC has more fighters like Cowboy.
I just wonder, what is happening with Nurmagomedov??

They were set to fight, but Khabib blew out his knee and is gonna be out til next year.
