Newly minted UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw steps back in the Octagon with the man he won the belt from, Renan Barao, in an immediate rematch at UFC 177 on Saturday. It’s not without controversy, however, as Dillashaw dominated the first fight, and many people are crying fowl over the decision to sign the rematch so quickly.

Dillashaw met with members of the media at Thursday’s UFC 177 media day to discuss the controversial immediate rematch, Renan Barao, and more.

I thought Barao was a fraud from the start. TJ smoked him so, why does Barao get another shot?

Why was he a fraud? TJ demolished him, that’s right. But he has the right to get another shot because he was just as dominant a champion as TJ was on the cage against him.
I’d dare saying he didn’t lose a single round until his defeat to TJ.

Because I am against all instant rematches. Seriously, all the champs have recently gotten constant rematches. This fight wasn’t even close. TJ destroyed him. Barao doesn’t deserve a rematch.

It’s all about marketing fighters and promoting the fights. You can’t just throw the champion in a fight with a guy who has no name value (unless he’s a top contender & has earned it). The reasoning for the constant rematches is because of all the fighter injuries that have occurred and not enough big name fighters to challenge for the belts
