Round 2: Sicilia presses forward and lands a left hand that knocks Phillips off balance. Sicilia works in Phillips’ guard. Phillips looks for an arm bar. He can’t get it but uses it to reverse Sicilia. He takes Sicilia’s back. Sicilia gains top position as Phillips looked for a choke. Phillips gives up his back and escapes out the backdoor. He gains top position. He works to take Sicilia’s back. Sicilia shakes him off and gains top position. Sicilia moves to side control. He takes Phillips’ back and cranks on his neck. Round 3: Sicilia presses forward. Phillips lands a knee but Sicilia catches it and takes him down. Sicilia moves to side control as Phillips briefly looked for an arm bar. Phillips works his way back to full guard. Sicilia postures up and lands punches. Sicilia moves to side control and delivers elbows. Phillips gets back to full guard. Sicilia postures up and lands a right hand to the body. Sicilia maintains top control. He lands to the body. Phillips gets to his feet only to be dragged back to the canvas. Sicilia lands short right hands. Phillips pushes Sicilia off. Sicilia lands an uppercut. Phillips works for a guillotine choke, but Sicilia gets his head out. The round ends. “I went at him hard. I had a lot of bumps and bruises coming into this one and I really had to dig deep. I put a lot of pressure on myself to get wins because lately I’ve found myself on the chopping block. I was able to pull it off on a bad day so hopefully I can string a few together and let the pressure fade.”
