UFC 172 Fight PosterThe UFC debut of Joe Ellenberger, brother of UFC welterweight contender Jake Ellenberger, has been nixed. His opponent, Vagner Rocha, has been forced out of Saturday’s UFC 172 due to a last-minute injury during training in Baltimore.

UFC officials announced the unfortunate news Wednesday evening.

The two were supposed to have have fought on the Fox Sports 1 preliminary portion of the UFC 172 fight card. Light heavyweight champion Jon Jones defends his belt in the night’s main event against Glover Teixeira.

Ellenberger had originally been slated to fight Yancy Medeiros on the card, but Medeiros was pulled from the fight to replace Bobby Green on the UFC 172 main card opposite Jim Miller. Rocha stepped in to face Ellenberger, but now the fight is off of the card altogether.

The UFC 172 fight card will now proceed with 10 bouts. Danny Castillo vs. Charlie Brenneman will move from the UFC Fight Pass prelims onto the FOX Sports 1 prelim broadcast.

How is Charlie Brenneman still getting UFC fights? He HUMPED Rick Story to a decision and that’s about it.

Got cut already, came back as a lightweight after a couple of wins. Promised to be more exciting, explained that he will be more effective since a move down a weight class.

Meanwhile he’s 0-1, a KO loss against Dariush. Seems that he actually is worse @155, so it’s probably his last UC fight.

Brenneman fought ANTHONY “RUMBLE” JOHNSON at one point…so the guy is exciting and has big brass ones….give him credit for that.

        • Aimed With “V”

The exciting part of the bout was Brenneman falling to the ground from the vicious head kick delivered by Rumble…I’ll give him that…

Are you sane?..a lightweight vs heavyweight…that`s what you call fair play?

          • Supaman

Dude, they both made 170 for that fight so they both count as ww. Just b/c Anthony fights at LHW doesnt have impact on this old fight.. Otherwise by your logic, Overeem is still a LHW too…

Can’t they just find another barista as a replacement?

I thought it was jones at first. He’s so worried about rematching gus, i figured he would fake an injury just to give himself more time for gus rematch

You liked your own comment, what a douche canoe!

        Better leave this guy alone.
I had a discussion with him and he clearly has some mental issues…and claims that he is a fighter :)

internet is about entertainment, not everything can be intellectually stimulating. i don’t think this guy is a “troll,” i think he’s serious.
