The Baltimore Arena drew 13,485 spectators, making it the biggest sporting event ever held in that arena, UFC President Dana White said.
In the main event, UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones successfully defended his title with a drubbing of Glover Teixeira. Jones batter Teixeira with a number of strikes on his way to a unanimous decision.
Anthony Johnson showed he can be a force at 205 pounds, beating Phil Davis in the co-main event. Johnson showed he could keep his stamina and still throw massive power shots through three rounds to earn a judges’ decision.
UFC 172 was the second biggest gate ever held at the Baltimore Arena, coming second only to a Rolling Stones concert, according to White.
