Round 1: The two heavyweights touch gloves.  Both being careful early.  Overeem lands to the body with a straight right.  Mir answers with a right hand.  Mir closes the distance and Overeem hits him with a left hand.  They clinch.  Overeem delivers a knee to the body and they separate.  Overeem lands a left hand that knocks Mir back.  Overeem initiates the clinch.  He lands a knee to the body.  He delivers a knee that knocks staggers Mir.  Mir falls to the canvas.  Overeem follows him and lands shots.  He traps an arm and lands more shots.  He delivers a knee to the body.  Mir get to his feet.  Overeem hits him with two knees to the body.  They separate.  Two minutes remain in the round.  Mir moves in and misses with a big left hand.  Overeem clinches.  Mir drops down for a leg lock.  He can’t isolate a leg and Overeem is on top of him in half guard.  Overeem lands a hard hammer fist, and another.  Mir controls Overeem’s posture.  Overeem lands short shots to the body and head.  The round ends.  MMAWeekly scores the round 10-8 for Overeem.

Round 3: Mir inches forward.  He misses with a high kick.  Overeem moves on the outside.  He moves and and takes Mir down.  Overeem stands out of Mir’s guard.  Mir works for a takedown but Overeem stuffs it and hits him with a right hand.  He works in the half guard position.  Overeem lands a right hand followed by an elbow.  Mir gets to full guard.  Overeem lands a hard left hand.  Overeem lands to the body and then the head.  Overeem is beating him up on the ground.  He delivers an elbow to the body.  Mir’s face is bloodied.  Overeem continues to pound away.  He stands and tells Mir to get up.  Overeem lands a lead uppercut popping Mir’s head back.  He switches stances.  Overeem lands a left hand.  The round ends.  MMAWeekly scores the round 10-9 for Overeem.

The judges scored the fight for Overeem by unanimous decision.  All three scorecards read 30-27.

    AO dropping weight for Mir is a cover for his lack of PED shrinking. He is obviously hesitant to face JDS or Cain. Calling out Brock is trying to take the easy way to a big paycheck!
