Every fighter on the recent UFC 163: Aldo vs. Korean Zombie fight card was drug tested. All test results were negative.
“All the fighters who participated in UFC 163 held in Rio de Janeiro on August 3, 2013, were submitted to tests of anti-doping control,” read a statement from the Brazilian Athletic Commission (CABMMA) sent to MMAWeekly.com on Friday.
“The results of these tests did not reveal any illicit drug use, and/or to improve performance, stimulants or substances used to mask the use of the same by any of the athletes who participated in UFC 163.”
Although none of the fighters returned a positive test result, several fighters received lengthy medical suspensions due to injuries. Chief among them were Aldo and Jung.
Aldo was suspended for 90 days due to a fractured right foot. Jung was suspended for 180 days pending clearance of his separated right shoulder. Things only got worse for both men post-fight.
A couple days after the fight, Aldo had to enter the hospital in Rio to deal with kidney stones, while Jung reportedly discovered that he also has a fractured orbital bone, in addition to the shoulder injury.
