Round 1: The two touch gloves to start the fight.  Shields lands an inside leg kick.  Shields is using a kicking attack early.  Woodley delivers a powerful outside leg kick that knocks Shields off his feet.  Shields gets up immediately.  He closes the distance and tries to get the fight to the ground.  They’re tied up along the cage.  They exchange knees to the body.  The referee separates them.  Shields pumping his jab.  He delivers a kick to the body.  Shields continues to land leg kicks.  Woodley steps in with a right hand.  Shields changes levels and works for a single leg takedown.  He lands knees to the thighs of Woodley.  Woodley lands shots to the body of Shields.  Woodley turns Shields and continues to lands right hands to the body.  The round ends.  MMAWeekly scores the round 10-9 for Shields.

Round 2: They meet in the middle.  Shields continues to employ leg kicks.  Woodley delivers a hard outside leg kick that knocks Shields off his feet.  Shields gets back up.  Woodley lands a kick to the body and Shields catches it and tries to get the fight to the ground.  They work for position along the cage.  Shields presses Woodley against the cage.  Woodley turns him.  They exchange knees inside the clinch.  Shield so far has been unable to get Woodley to the ground.  Shields looks for a guillotine choke.  Woodley is aware of it and defends the position.  They separate.  Shields presses forward.  He attempts a takedown but Woodley stuffs it.  Shields has attempted eleven takedowns thus far and hasn’t gotten a single one.  The exchange knees inside the clinch.  The referee separates them.  Woodley delivers a kick to the body at the bell.  MMAWeekly scores the round 10-9 for Woodley.

Round 3: Woodley comes out moving forward in the final round.  Woodley lands a kick to the body but Shields catches it.  He works for a takedown but Woodley shakes it off.  Shields presses Woodley against the cage.  The referee separates them.  Shields lands his jab and a kick to the body.  Shields clinches.  Woodley turns him and lands short shots to the body of Shields.  Shields answers with knees to the midsection.  The referee separates them.  Woodley steps in with a right hand.  Two minutes remain.  Woodley lands a spinning back fist.  Shields ties him up.  Woodley lands short punches to the body.  They exchange knees to the body.  The referee separates them again.  Woodley delivers a kick to the body.  Shields answers with a kick to the body of his own.  Woodley lands a right hand and an uppercut on the inside.  They work for position along the cage in the closing seconds.  The round ends.  MMAWeekly scores the round 10-9 for Woodley.

The judges score the fight for Shields by split decision.  The scorecards read 27-30, 29-28, and 29-28.

    That is why I normally watch the UFC on mute. Cuz Rogan is an idiot. “Tough fight to call.” Really. Shield controlled the entire fight and landed more. Woodley got one good shot and two sweeps. And that judge that called it 30-27 Woodley needs to be fired.
