Round 1: No touch of gloves in this one.  St-Pierre lands a leg kick.  Diaz presses forward and St-Pierre puts him on his back.  St-Pierre works inside Diaz’ full guard.  St-Pierre lands short punches to the body.  Diaz turns.  Diaz rolls and tries to get a takedown.  St-Pierre sprawls and takes Diaz’ back.  St-Pierre lands right hands.  St-Pierre gains side control.  Diaz works back to half guard.  St-Pierre postures up and delivers two hard elbows.  St-Pierre is controlling Diaz on the ground.  Diaz tries to stand but gets taken back to the canvas.  Diaz stands only to be pulled back down again.  St-Pierre takes Diaz’ back.  St-Pierre lands short punches.  Diaz stands but St-Pierre is on him.  St-Pierre elevates Diaz and slams him to the canvas.  St-Pierre lands a knee to the body at the bell.  MMAWeekly scores the round 10-9 for St-Pierre.

Round 4: St-Pierre’s corner tells him to take Diaz down.  St-Pierre opens with an inside leg kick.  St-Pierre steps in with his jab.  Diaz lands a right hand.  St-Pierre looks for a takedown and Diaz shakes it off.  St-Pierre goes back to working his jab.  Diaz defends another takedown attempt for St-Pierre.  Again, Diaz stops the takedown of St-Pierre.  St-Pierre presses Diaz against the cage. Diaz lands to the body with knees.  Diaz lands a combination on the break.  Diaz is walking on the outside with his hands down.  St-Pierre hits him with a jab.  St-Pierre drives forward and takes Diaz down with two minutes remaining in the round.  St-Pierre lands soft right hands.  Diaz works his way to the cage and stands.  St-Pierre elevates him and slams Diaz to the canvas.  Diaz rolls and stands along the cage.  St-Pierre looks up at the clock. Round 5: Diaz lands a leg kick.  He moves forward and lands a left hand.  St-Pierre lands a jab the snaps Diaz’ head back.  They clinch. Diaz delivers knees to the body of St-Pierre.  St-Pierre answers with one of his own. They exchange knees to the body. They separate.  St-Pierre lands his jab.  Diaz throws a high kick and slips.  St-Pierre seized the opportunity and keeps him down.  St-Pierre lands left hands.  He has Diaz’ back.  Diaz rolls out of it but St-Pierre maintains top position.  Diaz scrambles to his feet.  He lands two leg kicks.  St-Pierre engages the clinch.  Diaz lands multiple punches to the body of the champion.  He lands knees to the body.  Diaz presses St-Pierre against the cage.  St-Pierre circles away.  They exchange jabs and St-Pierre drives forward and takes Diaz down.  St-Pierre postures up and lands punches.  The round ends.  Diaz raises St-Pierre’s hand.  In his post-fight interveiw, Diaz said he’s done with mixed martial arts.

The judges score the fight for St-Pierre by unanimous decision.  All three scorecards read 50-45.
