UFC 157 posterThe Ultimate Fighting Championship handed out $50,000 bonuses for in-Octagon performances following UFC 157: Rousey vs. Carmouche at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif., on Saturday night.

The Fight of the Night bonus money went to Dennis Bermudez and Matt Grice, who put in their claims early for Fight of the Year. Bermudez had Grice in deep waters early on as he was able to land unanswered ground shots, but Grice fought back to control the latter stages of round one and round two.

With Grice tiring, Bermudez gave it his all in round three, and had Grice on the ropes multiple times, completely dominating him, but was unable to finish off the fight. Bermudez ended up claiming a split decision, while a draw would have been a fitting result.

Robbie Lawler banked the Knockout of the Night bonus award in his first UFC bout since 2004, as he scored a massive upset over Josh Koscheck with a first-round TKO finish.

Submission of the Night honors went to Kenny Robertson for his first-round leglock finish of Brock Jardine on the preliminary card.

The total money awarded in bonuses following UFC 157 totaled $200,000.

  • Did machida have to pay in for acting like a run a way train for most of the fight? Run away!….run away!!! God dam boring!

  • alhmiel

    Machida is boring and dull

  • Swamp Donkey

Lawler getting KO of the night. Shouldn’t you have to atleast knock out your opponent to get that award?

    • Hahahaha!!! Awesome

    • kid

Koscheck was out cold, totally unresponsive and not defending himself. He was seeing stars dude.

  • MMA noob

machida. boring? lol, the nuance of technical fighting is lost on you. the ability to hit and not get hit is the whole point. yall are probably diaz fans, wanna see an all out, wild brawl, no thinking.

    • kennybro

machida is my favorite fighter, but i totally understand why people don’t like watching him fight. it’s frustrating and there isn’t much action.

your average ufc fan is not as interested in machida’s technique as they are in hendo’s knock outs. tonight, they are dissapointed.

    • kennybro

oh yeah, and i’m a huge diaz fan.

don’t be ignorant and assume you must like one or the other.

  • Bermudez vs Grice is definitely a contender for fight of the year.

  • andrew

The Dragon?, i think that “The Running” is better. What a coward, well …Jones is going to kick his ass again.

    • Cuban VooDoo

      “the running”? wow you’re creative….

  • Timothy Malone

Bermudez vs Grice was an awesome fight but a bit tainted in my opinion because I think the judges didnt get it right

  • Milosc

Faber should have got a 2nd sub of the night
