In the co-main event for UFC 150: Henderson vs. Edgar 2, Donald Cerrone scored a huge come from behind knockout win over Melvin Guillard in his hometown of Denver. The knockout came after Cerrone was hurt in the opening stages of the first round.
Guillard immediately tested Cerrone’s chin with a big left hook counter that wobbled Cerrone. Cerrone immediately worked to get distance to regain his faculties. Instantly, Cerrone was able to recover and then, he grazed Guillard with a headkick and followed up with a powerful straight right that sent Guillard face first to the canvas.
The official time of Cerrone’s knockout came at just 1:16 into round one.
“I came in a little over aggressive and I know he hits hard, so I went oh (expletive), but I withstood it,” said Cerrone.
The victory over Guillard now moves Cerrone’s UFC record to 6-1 with four of his six wins ending by either knockout or submission.
