Wanderlei Silva and Rich Franklin face off at UFC 147 press conferenceUFC 147: Silva vs. Franklin II has undergone just about every change imaginable. It has changed locations, venues, main events, suffered from the injury bug, but it is finally going to take place on Saturday night at Mineirinho Arena in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.

The main event now features Wanderlei Silva and Rich Franklin in a rematch from their UFC 99 bout, Silva looking to exact a little revenge loss via decision. UFC 147 will also serve as the stage of the first Ultimate Fighter: Brazil finale in both the middleweight and featherweight classes.

Silva, Franklin, the TUF finalists, and the rest of the UFC 147 roster first had to weigh in Friday afternoon in Belo Horizonte.

Rich Franklin came in exactly on the mark for the 190-pound catch weight bout with Silva, who stepped on the scale at 188 pounds.

“It’s an honor to be here because basically this is where MMA started,” said Franklin after weighing in. “It’s an honor to once again fight Wanderlei, a legend in the sport.”

Silva, who spoke to his home crowd in Portuguese, said that he was happy to be fighting in Brazil and looked forward to giving his fans a victory.

Sergio Moraes, who was slotted into the TUF Brazil middleweight final as a late replacement, had no trouble making weight at 185 pounds. Neither did his opponent, Cezar Ferreira, who weighed in at 184 pounds. The two got a little heated when they faced off for photos, but cooler heads eventually prevailed.

TUF Brazil featherweight finalists Rony Jason and Godofredo Pepey did their best to entertain the crowd at the weigh-ins. Both made weight, but Jason entered wearing a hockey mask a la Friday the 13th, while Pepey donned a Spartan helmet.

Preliminary fighter John Teixeira weighed in four pounds above the 146-pound limit for his featherweight bout with Hugo Viana. He was given two hours to make weight.

I won’t be surprised if this card pulls the lowest PPV buys this year, at least in the US
