Round 1: Barboza lands an outside leg kick to get the action started. He delivers another one followed by an inside leg kick. Barboza throws a high kick and Varner catches it and presses forward for the takedown. Varner works inside Barboza’s half guard. Barboza kicks Varner off and gets back to his feet. He delivers a powerful outside leg kick. Varner lands an overhand right. Barboza lands another outside leg kick and Varner counters with a right hand. Varner isn’t checking the leg kicks. Barboza eats a right hand. Varner has him hurt. Varner gets a takedown. Barboza gets to his feet and eats a combination. He’s hurt. Varner lands more punches. Barboza gets dropped and Varner finishes with hammer fists.

The official time of the stoppage came at 3:23 of the first round.
