For the first time in nearly four years, the UFC will be returning to Atlanta as the promotion lands there on April 21 for UFC 146.
The announcement was made on UFC Tonight on Fuel TV on Tuesday.
The UFC first visited the state of Georgia for UFC 88 in September 2008 with the main event pitting former light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell against Rashad Evans.
The result in that fight was one of the most thunderous knockouts in UFC history as Evans cold cocked the former champion with an overhand right that put him down and out.
If the promotion follows suit from the last event in Atlanta, UFC 146 will most likely take place at the Philips Arena, home to the NBA’s Atlanta Hawks.
No match-ups have been named for the April event, but UFC matchmakers Joe Silva and Sean Shelby won’t likely waste any time to get things done.
MMAWeekly.com will have more information on UFC 146 when it becomes available.
