Mark Bocek vs. John Alessio

Round 1: Both fighters come out looking to throw. But less than a minute into the fight and Bocek shoots for the takedown. He gets Alessio to one knee briefly, then presses him to the fence and drives knees into his thighs, while maintaining a body lock. Bocek finally gets Alessio down and on his back, Bocek going to work from half guard, hammering Alessio with elbows. Alessio regains full guard, but Bocek continues to land some heavy elbows and punches before passing once again to half guard. Alessio gives up his back and Bocek takes it, punching Alessio to the side of the head. Bocek locks on the body triangle, searching for a rear naked choke, but can’t sink it. Round 2: The round opens with Bocek and Alessio trading kicks, but then Alessio snaps Bocek’s head back with a solid punch combination. Bocek again goes to his bread and butter, shooting the takedown and scoring the double-leg, again putting Alessio on his back. Bocek hammers away with punches and elbows. Alessio eventually gets out from under Bocek and brings the fight back up. Alessio lands some solid punch combinations with about 30 seconds left in the round. Bocek clinches and presses him to the fence, finishing the round out that way. MMAWeekly.com scores round two 10-9 for Bocek

Round 3: Alessio opens up strong, again snapping Bocek’s head back with punch combinations and is also landing some solid leg kicks. But Bocek, once again, goes back to the takedown, gets it and immediately works to Alessio’s back, locking on a body triangle. Bocek is peppering Alessio with punches, trying to create an opening for a rear naked choke. Alessio somehow escapes and shoots right back to his feet. Alessio starts throwing punches and lands a couple front kicks, but Bocek fires back with a big right hand and shoots on Alessio, again putting him on the mat. Bocek moves around to take Alessio’s back, but Alessio escapes and returns to his feet again. Bocek body locks him and pushes him into the fence, driving knees to the thighs with less than a minute to go in the round. They separate, Alessio keeps pressing, trying to find a finish, but can’t find it before the horn. MMAWeekly.com scores round three 10-9 and the fight 30-27 for Bocek
