The UFC has been busy filling up its fight cards for the remainder of the year, and Monday announced a lightweight addition to UFC 141.
Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist TJ Grant and wrestling-based Jacob Volkmann have verbally agreed to square off on Dec. 30, according to UFC officials.
Grant (17-5) is coming off of an impressive victory over Shane Roller at UFC on Versus 6 at the beginning of October. He has alternated between wins and losses during his UFC tenure, amassing a record of 4-3 in the Octagon. He’ll be looking to the fight with Volkmann to try and break that cycle and get some momentum going.
Volkmann (13-2), on the other hand, had a rocky start to his career in the UFC, losing his first two bouts in the Octagon. He has bounced back strong, however, and is currently in the midst of a four-fight winning streak, having defeated Danny Castillo at UFC on Versus 5 in August.
Former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar returns from a second bout with diverticulitis at UFC 141, headlining the card in a bout with former Strikeforce champion Alistair Overeem.
