Former UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida will try to derail the Jon Jones train on Saturday night in Toronto, but the former champion and the current champ first stepped on the scale for the UFC 140 weigh-ins Friday afternoon at the Air Canada Centre.

Neither Jones nor Machida had trouble making weight. The current champion stepped on the scale at 205 pounds on the nose, while Machida tipped it at 204 pounds.

“This is an awesome opportunity against an awesome opponent. I’m just so greatful for the whole situation,” said Jones after weighing in to a surprising amount of boos. “I can’t wait to go out there and play this game that I’m so in love with.”

Machida was just as humble, saying, “This is a great opportunity for me, my second time fighting in Toronto. I hope to do a great job tomorrow.”

Former heavyweight champion Frank Mir stepped on the scale at 260 pounds to a healthy chorus of boos, while former Pride champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira weighed in at 239 pounds.

Neither former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz or his opponent, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, had trouble making weight.

Slated to fight on the televised portion of the preliminary card, Dennis Hallman, who has been fighting most recently at welterweight, had trouble making the weight for his lightweight bout with John Makdessi. Hallman tipped the scale at 185.5 pounds. He was given additional time to try and cut down to the limit of 156 pounds.

Looks like the cut to 155lbs was a difficult one for Dennis Hallman. Wonder how this will affect his performance tomorrow night.

    Where is the video??

  • shereko

I hope Hallman doesn’t wear his banana hammock again to fight… I know the rule was put into place about what they can wear… because last time that was just wrong.

It was very wrong, but it was also hilarious.

185.5? Either hallman put on some weight or you got your numbers flipped

    Did Hallman ever make weight?

  • MikeMc1983

I think it’s a bit crazy that Jon is a -450 favorite, and machida is +420. I guess that’s why I’m not an odds maker. Could be a real fun fight.

Hoping Machida can stop this Jon Jones hype already…if not, Dan Henderson’s right hand will…as long as he doesn’t get tired and look like crap in the later rounds again…lol!
