Certainly not a robbery or miscarriage of justice but I think they got it wrong last night. I scored it a draw. Henderson won rounds 1, 2 and 3. Rua won rounds 4 and 5 with the 5th being scored 10-8.
If round 5 wasn’t a 10-8 round then I don’t know what is. Dan offered zero offense and spent nearly the entire round flat on his back, a good portion of it mounted.
The CSAC needs to take a serious look at the way they score fights as it seems they have a policy against handing out 10-8 scores.
I Dont like Hendo but Id give him this fight. The 5th round wasnt a fight at all they both just held each other.
Jordan Breen from sherdog scored it 47-47 DRAW
Fightmetric had it 47-47
Dave Meltzer had it 47-47
I know it’s not the fight people want to talk about, but I couldn’t believe Kampmann almost got another split decision. Apparently, it was later determined a mistake and a unanimous decision for Kampmann, but at the time, I was thinking, “who in their right mind scored that fight for Story?”
Great fight – Kampmann has a lot of potential.
With regard to the main topic, can’t it be said if you were going to give Rua a 10-8 for the fifth, that Hendo should have gotten a 10-8 in one of the earlier rounds. I realize that Rua “knocked” Hendo down, but it wasn’t really anything but a glance. It really did just seem like Hendo won that fight. (And just as an FYI, I am a huge fan of both of these guys, but do not go nuts over either of them, so I am not just trying to root for “my guy”)
