UFC 137 Medical Suspensions: Diaz and Penn Sidelined

UFC 137: Penn vs. Diaz took place Saturday night, Oct. 29, at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. B.J. Penn and Nick Diaz both ended up bloodied and bruised in the main event with Diaz winning a unanimous decision.

Both were among the post-fight UFC 137 medical suspensions released by the Nevada State Athletic Commission on Monday.

UFC 137 Medical Suspensions:

Nick Diaz – Suspended until Nov. 29 with no contact prior to Nov. 20.

BJ Penn – Suspended until Dec. 29 with no contact prior to Dec. 14.

Matt Mitrione – Suspended until Dec. 14 with no contact prior to Nov. 29.

Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic – Suspended until Dec. 14 with no contact prior to Nov. 29.

George Roop – Suspended until Dec. 14 with no contact prior to Nov. 29.

Tyson Griffin – Suspended until Dec. 14 with no contact prior to Nov. 29.

Bart Palaszewski – Must have right hand x-rayed. If positive, he must then get clearance from an orthopedic doctor. He faces a minimum suspension until Dec. 14 with no contact prior to Nov. 29.

Brandon Vera – Must have left elbow torn ligament injury cleared by orthopedic doctor or no contest until April 28, 2012. He faces a minimum suspension until Dec. 14 with no contact prior to Nov. 29.

Danny Downes – Suspended until Nov. 29 with no contact prior to Nov. 20.
