The Ultimate Fighting Championship recently made the Sept. 24 title fight between UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson official. UFC 135 marks the promotions return to its roots in Denver.
Although UFC 1 took place at McNichols Arena, the venue has since been razed and replaced. The UFC 135 fight card will take place at the Pepsi Center, home of the NBA’s Denver Nuggets and NHL’s Colorado Avalanche.
To kick off the event, UFC president Dana White, Jones, and Jackson will host a UFC 135 press conference on Tuesday to kick of ticket sales.
The press conference takes place Tuesday at Brauns Bar & Grill in Denver (1055 Auroria Pkwy.) next to the Pepsi Center at 10 a.m. MT. It is open to the public for fans to attend.
UFC 135 tickets go on sale Friday, July 22 at 10 a.m. MT at the Pepsi Center Box Office, or by calling Ticket Horse at 303-53-HORSE or online at www.TicketHorse.com. Tickets are priced at $400, $300, $225, $150, $100, $75, and $50.
“Many people think that Jon Jones should be considered one of the pound-for-pound best fighters in the world, but I wouldn’t make that claim too fast,” UFC President Dana White said. “The 205-pound division is and always has been the most stacked division in MMA. Rampage Jackson has been one of the top five light heavyweights in the world since 2003. A win over Rampage Jackson will definitely put Jon Jones on the right track for becoming the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world.”
Other UFC 135 bouts include Matt Hughes vs. Diego Sanchez and Nate Diaz vs. Takanori Gomi.
