The relationship between the UFC and Spike TV may be coming apart at the seems, but while the UFC still presents its preliminary bout broadcasts on the network for the remainder of 2011, the number of viewers tuning in remains consistent.
UFC 135 Prelims Live turned in the highest ratings the series has produced since UFC 131 earlier this year, drawing 1.6 million viewers for the one-hour telecast. The two bouts featured were Tim Boetsch’s win over Nick Ring and TUF 13 winner Tony Ferguson’s jaw-breaking victory over Aaron Riley.
The UFC 135 Prelims Live ratings were strong enough to make it the No. 1 show in its timeslot in the key demographics of Men 18-34 and Men 18-49.
The past couple prelim broadcasts on Spike TV drew 1.4 and 1.3 million viewers, so UFC 135 was a bit of a boost, keeping the average viewership at 1.44 million per episode over the life of the series.
