Posted on by MMAWeekly.com Staff

The fighters for Saturday night’s UFC 133: Evans vs. Ortiz made their way to the scale at Friday afternoon’s weigh-in festivities at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.

Former UFC light heavyweight champions Rashad Evans and Tito Ortiz got the green light for their main event rematch, as did co-main event fighters Vitor Belfort and Yoshihiro Akiyama for their middleweight contest.

Gonna go watch Weezer tomorrow and miss this fight, at least I won’t have to hear Joe Roagns annoying voice…

Damn. No knock on Evans but he looks like a middleweight, maybe even a welterweight. Honestly, if he can’t beat Jones then maybe a drop down to middleweight is a possibility.

No Rashad looks like a LHW but he cuts a whole lot less than guys like Tito do. Tito’s height advantage is pretty significant too; I didn’t know that about Tito and Rashad. However,I give Rashad the edge on this one in a 2-1 U.D. Rashad doesn’t get his props and he deserves more respect than he gets. Against Rashad? Tito’s biggest advantage is his submission game and kicks. I don’t see him outwrestling,outquicking,out-punching or tiring out Rashad.

Plus those damn hatas booin Rashad? It’ll be good to shut them up with this match. I still think that Rashad is at a distinct disadvantage vs Jon Jones but he’s the one who knows how Jones fights the best. If Rashad is able to nuetralize Jones’ wrestling–and Rashad can do that–then it’s Jones’ versatile striking game vs Rashad’s lightning hands and takedowns. It will be good, but the story will be told by the end of Round 2 or middle of Round 3. Rashad tends to get caught by power punchers in Round 3,unless he’s corrected that problem? Jones will outpoint him. We’ve never seen Jones challenged and pushed so we’ll learn about Jones after Round 3 too.I think Anderson Silva could cleanly take the 205 title if he wanted to,and he might if Lyoto doesn’t do so.I’d like to see a few HW fights at 225 for Anderson too…
